Hello Readers, In this article, I will share more light on Jamb and WAEC subject combination for Botany with Direct Entry Requirement. Firstly, What is Subject Combination? It is a list of subjects that include both compulsory and optional subjects. However, It is compulsory for a student to have a knowledge of the required subject combination for the course he or she wants to study in the institution.
Subject Combination is also a factor that denied students from studying their decided course in the university aside from not scoring the minimum cut-off mark of such course. Once you choose the wrong subject combination for Botany it is either you change to another course that goes along with the subject combination you’ve chosen or you wait for another year. However, for you to study Botany in any institution you must be a science student.
O’Level Botany Subject Combination. (WAEC or NECO)
Before obtaining the UTME form, you must have written or registered for any O’Level examination like WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB examination. A student willing to study this course “Botany” must have at least a minimum of five (5) credit in his or her O’Level result which includes:
JAMB Subject Combination for Botany
To become a graduate of Botany in any institution in Nigeria, Firstly, you have to participate in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination which is conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
This examination always comes up once a year and the subject combination for Botany are:
- Use Of English
- Chemistry
- Biology
- And any other science subject
Direct Entry Requirement for Botany
AAUA and UNIJOS accept;
- ND upper credit in Forestry
- HND pass in Forestry and other relevant programmes.
University of Uyo accepts;
- ND upper credit/HND lower credit in relevant programmes plus the UTME requirements.
University of Lagos accepts;
- Very good passes in the following three (3) JUPEB/’A’-level subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics.
UMUDIKE accepts;
- ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and Biology/Botany.
University of Benin accepts;
- ND upper credit / HND lower credit in Food Technology or Science Laboratory Technology
- NCE credit in Biology/Chemistry.
IGBINEDION accepts;
- Credit in Botany plus one (1) of Biology, Zoology, or Chemistry.
- ND/HND lower credit in Biology, Food Technology, or Botany
Delta State University accepts;
- NCE merit in Biology and any other two (2) subjects.
- Merit in DELSU Diploma in Biology Education may be considered.
MAUTY accepts;
- Two (2) A Level credit passes in Biology and Chemistry.
- NCE/ND/HND in relevant fields.
- For Biotechnology requires Two (2) A-Level credit passes in Biology and Chemistry.
- NCE/ND/HND in relevant fields.
University of Calabar requires;
- ‘A’ Level passes / NCE merit or above in Biology and Chemistry plus ‘O’ Level credit pass in Physics or Mathematics.
Federal University Lokoja accepts;
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes to include one (1) of Botany, Zoology, Biology or Chemistry;
- IJMB minimum of 8 points with passes in relevant subjects;
- NCE Credit pass in Chemistry and Biology;
- ND upper credit in Biological Science, Science Laboratory Technology or related programmes from a recognized institution;
- HND lower credit in relevant programmes from Accredited Tertiary Institutions; Degree (Third Class) relevant to the programme.
Kebbi State University of Science and Technology same as in Agricultural Science
Crescent University requires;
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Biology and either Physics or Chemistry and IJMB at acceptable grade levels.
Federal University of Technology Owerri requires;
- At least two (2) ‘A’ Level passes not below Grade C in Biology and either Physics or Chemistry.
- ND/HND at Upper Credit level in life sciences.
- First Degree in life sciences.
- Very good passes in three JUPEB subjects namely Chemistry, Biology and Physics or Mathematics. It does not accept NCE. Candidates must in addition meet the ‘O’ Level requirements.
University of Ilorin accepts;
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Biology and Chemistry.
University of Nigeria Nsukka requires;
- ‘A’ Level passes or its equivalent in Chemistry and Biology or Botany or Zoology in addition to the UTME requirements.
- NCE merit in Biology and Chemistry from a recognized institution, plus the university minimum entry requirements..
Lagos State University accepts;
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes chosen from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Physics.
Obefami Awolowo University accepts;
- Two (2) `’A’ Level passes in Chemistry, Botany or Biology
Federal University Oye Ekiti accepts;
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes chosen from Biology, Botany, Chemistry and any Physics or Mathematics.
University of Ibadan requires;
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Botany, Chemistry or Botany / Biology.
Ebonyi State University accepts;
- HND, ND upper credit and NCE merit respectively in the relevant programmes.
BAUCHI accepts;
- IJMB/ ‘A’ Level Credit passes in Biology, Chemistry or its equivalent.
- ND HND lower credit in the following areas: Science Laboratory Technology, Wild Life and Forestry, Environmental Management Technology. The candidate must also have the five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
Nile University accepts;
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in the Science subjects.
- ND/HND lower credit or NCE merit in relevant subjects/programmes.
Mountain Top University requires;
- At least five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes with a minimum of two (2) relevant subjects (Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics and Physics) at GCE/IJMB ‘A’ Level or any approved equivalents in relevant Science subjects. Or Foundation/JUPEB obtained from Mountain Top University or other recognized Universities.
EUI accepts;
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Biology/Botany/Zoology and Chemistry or Physics.
- NCE/OND/HND with credit passes from a recognised institution in addition to ‘O’ Level requirements.
- A very good passes in JUPEB in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
- IJMB passes in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
AAUA requires:
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level subjects in Botany, Chemistry or Botany/Biology
- ND with minimum of upper credit in Biology/Agric, Botany/Plant science, Microbiology and Biochemistry
Federal University, Dutse accepts;
- Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes (Graded A-D in GCE A level, NCE, IJMB or OND) at the ‘A’ Level in relevant subjects (Biology, Botany, Chemistry and Physics) with minimum 8 points.
- ND upper credit must be related discipline or area, Science Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory
Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology. Nursing Diploma at Pass level. - ND Food Science & Technology, ND Health Technology lower credit may be considered where deemed appropriate step down to 100 level.
Ekiti State University accepts;
- Two (2) A Level passes in Biology/Botany/Zoology and Chemistry or Physics.
KSUSTA accepts;
- Two (2) A Level passes in Biology/Botany/Zoology and Chemistry or Physics.
Ahmadu Bello University accepts;
- Two ‘A’ level /IJMB passes which must include Biology or Botany or Zoology and Chemistry in addition to O/L requirements.
PHC accepts;
- Two (2) A/level GCE or HSC or IJMB or JUPEB passes in Biology and any one of Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics including UTME entry requirements.
Federal University Lafia accepts;
- ND with at least Lower Credit or HND in Horticulture, Science Lab. Tech, Forestry, Crop Production or any relevant area;
- NCE: Merit in Biology, Integrated Science, Agric. Science or any relevant area;
- IJMB: Minimum of 9 points in Biology and any two of Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. GCE: Advanced Level with at least 2 credit passes in Biology/Botany and any of Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.
Federal University Kashere accepts;
- Three ‘A’ Level passes in Biology and any other two of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Botany and Geography OR Minimum of 9 points in IJMB, 9 points in NCE with credit pass in the subject of specialization OR at least a Lower Credit pass in relevant National Diploma.
Federal University Dutsinma accepts;
- Two ‘A’ level passes in Botany/ Zoology/ Biology and Chemistry. ND/NCE with good grades in any relevant field.
Bayero University accepts;
- Two ‘A’ level passes in Biology/Botany/Zoology and Chemistry or Physics.
- IJMB.
- NCE – Minimum of B grade in the relevant subject combination, minus education in all programmes in the faculty of Life Sciences.
Federal University of Technology Akure requires;
- GCE ‘A’ Level or IJMB or JUBEP or Cambridge examinations passes in Biology/Botany/Zoology and Chemistry/Physics; or
- ND in any Natural, Agricultural or Life Science courses with a minimum of Upper Credit from a recognised institution.
